According to a statement from the law firm of Slack and Davis, Ms. Bonham suffered severe burns and several other injuries when Corporate Airlines Flight 5966, bound from St. Louis to Kirkville Regional Airport crashed and burned about one mile from the runway on October 19. Bonham and one other person survived. The lawsuit alleges the crew was fatigued, careless, and suffered from a lapse in judgment.

The plane was operated by Corporate Airlines and, according to the National Transportation Safety Board, had no apparent mechanical failure or maintenance problems.

The lawsuit, which names American Airlines as the parent company, did not specify a dollar amount.
