Just after midnight on July 7, a Union Pacific Railroad employee reported that a person had been struck by a train. Responding to the call, deputies found the body of Charles Kent Boddie II, 23, of The Woodlands.

Deputies at the scene said it appeared that the victim had been hit by the train where Deerwood Drive crosses the tracks within the gated parking area of the Texas Renaissance Festival.

Pronounced dead at 12:34 a.m., the body was sent to Travis County Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy as ordered by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Joe Imhoff.
