Some residents of Tittabawassee River Flood Plain in Michigan have heightened dioxin levels, small study reveals

The finding was based on a study of 20 residents of the flood plain, who allowed the MDCH to take samples of their blood, soil from their yards, and dust from inside their homes.
Blood levels in five of the participants were higher than expected. However, dioxin levels for all participants fell between the lowest and highest levels for people with no known exposure to dioxins beyond background.
The study was limited to participants whose yard soil showed dioxin levels above the state residential cleanup criterion.
Because the number of participants was so small, it is still unclear about whether other people living on the flood plain may have similar dioxin levels in their blood.
