More than 5,500 people in this age range died from traumatic brain injury in 2002 and most of these brain injuries were related to falls and motor vehicle accidents.

This information was produced using using HCUPnet, an on-line information system that provides users instant access to health statistics and information on hospital stays from Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality 's Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP).

This HCUP comprises group of health care databases and related software tools developed through a federal-state-industry partnership, sponsored by AHRQ. HCUP includes the largest set of publicly available, all-payer health care databases in the United States. HCUP data can be accessed through HCUPnet, an on-line system that provides instant access to health statistics and information on hospital stays from HCUP data.
