Kathleen Babb filed a $300,000 federal whistleblower lawsuit against the township and three supervisors after she was fired in July of 2004. Under the Federal False Claims Act whistleblower protection clause, an employee cannot be dismissed after reporting malfeasance.

Attorneys for the township says they decided to settle with Babb solely on a fiscal basis, and that the township does not admit any wrongdoing.

The township accumulated $17,000 in legal fees fighting Babb's case. According to the terms of the agreement, the township will pay $15,000 toward the settlement and its insurance company will cover the remainder.
