A spokeswoman for the MHRA stated that more packs of counterfeit Lipitor may still be in the system and may have possibly reached consumers.

With assistance from Pfizer Ltd., manufacturers of the popular cholesterol drug, the MHRA has issued a recall for any remaining stock of a specified batch of Lipitor.

Officers from the MHRA discovered the counterfeit Lipitor during a raid on July 22, marking the third time that counterfeit drugs were discovered in wholesaler warehouses or pharmacies.
