38-year-old Olson Agoodie died Friday night at Maryvale Hospital after being shot by a Taser stun gun.

Agoodie, whose criminal history includes assault against police, criminal damage, and other convictions, was Taser after he resisted officers attempting to remove him from the back seat of a vehicle.

The car's owner complained to a police officer, who was conducting an unrelated traffic stop nearby, that there was a man in his backseat that he did not know.

Officers attempted to remove Agoodie, and Tasered him when they were unable to move him. Officers called paramedics after suspecting he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

While being treated by paramedics on the way to the hospital, Agoodie began vomiting and went into a seizure.

He was treated by emergency room staff but pronounced dead a short time later.

The incident, Glendale's first Taser-related death, remains under investigation by the Glendale Police Department and members of the Professional Standards Unit.
