DuPont Blood Cancer Trial Begins

Lawyers for the plaintiff, Glenn Strong, claim that pollutants from DuPont's DeLisle, Mississippi titanium dioxide plant caused his disease.

Titanium dioxide is a white pigment used in paint, plastics, Oreo cookies, toothpaste, and other products. Waste from its production has tested positive for several toxic chemicals that have been linked to cancer and other health concerns.

Lawyers representing DuPont stated that their main goal is to remain focused on the true purpose behind the case, namely to determine what caused Strong's illness. They also reiterated their stance that dioxins are found throughout the environment regardless of the plant's practices.
