Former Iowa Police Chief Sentenced for Meth

Kenneth Swanson pleaded guilty to plotting to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

Senior U.S. District Judge Donald E. O'Brien sentenced Swanson, age 45, to serve 75 months in federal prison, where there is no possibility of parole. In addition, Swanson was ordered to pay a $200 special assessment fee.

Swanson's previous record includes a 14 day jail sentence in 2001 for providing teen age girls with alcohol.
