Ford is recalling nearly 4 million trucks and SUVs after the company received more than 1000 complaints of engine fires linked to the vehicles' cruise control systems. Three deaths have been reported in relation to the problem.
Affected model years include the 1994-2002 F-150, 1997-2002 Expedition, 1998-2002 Navigator, and 1994-1996 Bronco. Ford performed a similar recall of 800,000 vehicles in January, and a spokesperson for the company stated that they are confident in their solution to the problem.
Toyota's recall of nearly 1 million trucks and SUVs is due to complaints of power steering failure. Although no injuries have been reported, the problem can potentially cause an accident.
Affected model years include the 1990-1995 4Runner, 1989-1995 4WD, and 1993-1998 T-100.
Both companies will be contacting owners to notify them of the recall and the appropriate actions to take.
