44-year-old David Anthony Cross was detained Saturday for a domestic violence-related incident, the Sheriff's Department said.

According to the report, Cross began yelling, kicking and slamming his head on the cell door. Deputies attempted to restrain him, Cross resisted, and they used a 50,000 volt taser chock to subdue him.

Cross stopped breathing sometime after. Paramedics took him to Dominican Hospital where he died Sunday afternoon.

The county medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
