Timothy Dhaenens of Prineville was hit once in the head after his pickup collided with another vehicle while trying to make a left turn, police say.

Sergeant Russ Wright of the Crook County Sheriff's Office says Dhaenens was attempting to make a left turn into a private drive Sunday afternoon. He turned the pickup into the oncoming lane and struck another vehicle.

Dhaenens was pronounced dead at the scene after his .22 caliber rifle discharged during the collision. The other driver was uninjured.
