Charlie Sherman, the host of a morning radio show in Manchester, recently filed a lawsuit against Dr. Eric C. Chapman of Catholic Medical Center claiming that the psychiatrist failed to diagnosis him with depression, which allegedly caused Sherman to lose his job as a television sportscaster with WMUR-TV.
According to the lawsuit, Sherman's condition significantly deteriorated after he sought Chapman's care in December 2002. The lawsuit further claims that Chapman was actually not a board certified psychiatrist, but was instead an internist.
Sherman is seeking damages for lost wages, bills, and other setbacks associated with the loss of his job.
In March 2004, Sherman resigned from WMUR-TV following a situation in which he was perceived by some to have made on-air criticism of the operators of a local basketball tournament. According to Sherman, when his camera crew arrived to cover the event, they were forced to park too far from the gymnasium.
Sherman later asked for his job back, but the company refused him after a verbal altercation took place during a meeting with Sherman over his televised comments.
Neither Sherman nor Chapman was immediately available Thursday for comment on the case.
