9-Year Sentence for Man Involved in Drug-Deal Shooting

During a drug deal in April, 22-year-old David R. Lynn shot and killed Vincent Williams, 25. The act resulted in a 9-year prison sentence and a $5,000 fine for Lynn, in addition to compensating the victim's family for medical expenses.

The incident occurred when Vincent Williams and two other men arrived at Lynn's home to purchase marijuana. One of the other men, Firouzmandi, pulled out a gun and began firing. Lynn fired back and in doing so, killed Williams.

Although Lynn claims he was acting in self-defense, the fact remained that he was involved in illegal drug activity at the time of the shooting, which limits his self-defense rights.

Firouzmandi, who started the violence through aggravated robbery, is being charged with murder and will stand trial in January.
