47-year-old DeForest J. Flagler tripped over an extension cord and fell down a flight of stairs on Nov. 18, 2000, during remodeling at the Institute in Buffalo.

Flagler, a carpenter, was working for Peter Elia Construction of Niagara Falls at the time of the accident. Elia was a subcontractor hired by Wilsandra Construction, the general contractor on the job.

The settlement will be paid by insurers of Roswell Park and Walsandra, according to Flagler's attorney.
