Wyeth wins diet drug trial in Philadelphia

Earlier in the month, Brigette DeMonja was awarded $88,000 in her injury suit against Wyeth. Though there were three other plaintiffs associated with this group, these plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their cases before going to trial.

Since pulling Pondimin from the market in 1997, Wyeth has been charged with more than $21 billion in legal liabilities linked to heart valve problems. Pondimin formed one part of the now banned diet drug combination fen-phen.
