Claiming their constitutional rights to picket had been violated, Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association Local 33 has filed a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC).

Ted Ludwig, the president of Local 33, claimed that they had no choice but to sue after MAC refused to grant the union's formal request to picket along the heavily trafficked Northwest Drive at Minneapolis St. Paul Airport,

Laws do require that MAC provide a hearing for any permit denials; however, MAC says that it will not grant the permit nor provide a hearing.

The lawsuit requests that the court order MAC to issue the permit so that the union can exercise its constitutional rights to free speech and assembly.

Mechanics Fraternal Association Local 33 represents striking Northwest Airlines mechanics, cleaners and custodians.
