The mother of a man who was allegedly subject to a fatal beating outside of a bar has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the individuals accused of the murder and the bar's owner.
Inez Graham, of Flint, Michigan, filed the lawsuit on behalf of the death of her son, DeMarcus.
According to court records, Graham left the Shaboom Pub Club in Mount Pleasant during the early morning hours of June 25, 2004. As he left the bar, he was allegedly beaten unconscious. He died on July 14 at St. Mary's of Michigan hospital in Saginaw.
The individuals accused of murdering Graham are: James King, 23, of Oak Park; Spencer Lewis, 23, of Lathrup Village; Jimmy Donald, 23, of Saginaw; Demond Petty, 21, of Detroit; Michael Thomas, 23, of Fort Myers, Florida; and Jerry Seymour, 20, of Miramar, Florida.
In addition to the aforementioned individuals, Inez Graham's lawsuit also names Richil Inc., owners of the Shaboom Pub Club.
The suit claims that the club is partially responsible for Graham's death in that the servers provided alcohol to the defendants, which contributed to the assault on Graham.
Richard Swindlehurst, the bar's owner, denies that his employees served the defendants alcohol on the night in question.
Inez Graham said that she is suing for damages in excess of $25,000 to help support the two children that her son left behind.
