A drug dealer from Brooklyn has been convicted of manslaughter after killing an 8-year-old boy during a shootout.
Jahbir Fowle, a 26-year-old drug dealer from Brooklyn, was convicted of killing Michael Walker, 23, and an 8-year-old boy, Deasean (DaeDae) Hill during a territorial shootout between rival drug dealers in November 2003.
Fowle was arrested after being featured on the television show America's Most Wanted. He claimed self-defense in the shootout and was convicted of manslaughter. The conviction will earn him 7 ½ to 15 years in prison. If he had been convicted of murder, he would have faced 25 years to life in prison.
Deasean was shot in the wrist and chest as he was walking home with his father and younger brother and sister.
