Carla Sanborn and Julie Schultz filed the lawsuit on behalf of the death of their mother, Carolyn Furrow. In the suit, they claim that Dr. Gregory Pinegar prescribed their mother an excessively large amount of methadone. Pinegar is alleged to have written the prescription in the emergency unit of Share Medical Center.

The lawsuit states that Pinegar was negligent in prescribing such a large amount of methadone and that his actions contributed to Furrow's death. The lawsuit also alleges that Pinegar had been treating Furrow for several years and was aware of her medical history.

Also named as a defendant in the suit is Damon Hawkins of Hawkins Pharmacy. Hawkins filled the methadone prescription for Furrow. According to the lawsuit, Hawkins should have known that such a large amount of the drug could be fatal if used in the way that it was prescribed.

The suit seeks damages in excess of $30,000.
