David R. Price, 48, and his son were playing golf at the Sunset Golf Course in Longmont, Colo. when his son's pitching wedge came apart during his swing and hit David in the head. The blow resulted in a serious head injury that eventually caused Price to lose both his job and his home.

Wilson Sporting Goods Company manufactured the defective club and was sued by Price for damages resulting from his injury. Price was officially awarded $2 million; however, state limits will reduce his payment to approximately $1.1 million.
