Fen-Phen Case Settled for Undisclosed Amount

Sherry Manicalco filed the lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company Wyeth after she allegedly suffered from heart damage caused by a diet drug that contained the ingredient Pondimin.

This recent settlement involves one of several fen-phen lawsuits involving injury and even death. In April 2004, another Jefferson County jury awarded more than $1 billion in a lawsuit involving the death of Cynthia Cappell-Coffey, a 41-year-old woman who died of primary pulmonary hypertension as a result of the diet drug combination fen-phen.
