Onondaga County Judge Anthony Aloi sentenced Dean Tuszynski, 46, to 8 ½ years in prison after Tuszynski pleaded guilty to his ninth charge of driving while intoxicated.

Dean was involved in two fender-bender accidents that took place just minutes apart on Oct. 18, only a month after he was released from prison for his seventh DWI conviction.

The prosecution was in favor of a life sentence for the repeat offender who was first convicted of DWI back in 1986. According to current penal law, the maximum sentence for the offense was eight years; however the judge was able to tack on an extra six months since Dean was in violation of his parole.
