The plane was returning to Leesburg Regional Airport when it crashed into a pasture, hitting several power lines on the way down. Witnesses reported hearing a spitting and sputtering sound followed by a loud crash. Gene Megyesi, 81, of Summerfield was traveling in the Cessna 150 with his 54-year-old son-in-law Donald Budd. Mr. Megyesi was trapped in the wreckage for nearly thirty minutes. Officials at the scene say Mr. Budd was able to pull himself from the wreckage, but appeared to be disoriented and confused. The two men were airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Hospital officials say they are in stable condition.

Residents in the area were without power for nearly three hours following the crash.

The Cessna 150 is owned by Changing Horse LLC in Ocala and was built in 1972.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
