According to a representative from Wyeth, the jury sided with the company in a lawsuit filed by Dana Hooper. In the other case, the jury awarded $32,000 to Christina Jenkins, who claims to have been harmed by taking diet drugs from Wyeth. Wyeth says that it will challenge the award in the Jenkins case in the second phase of the trial. Representatives from the company state that they acted responsibly in the marketing of its diet drugs.

The drugs in question, Pondimin and Redux®, were pulled from the market in 1997 after studies found the drugs could lead to heart valve damage.

The recall has cost Wyeth more than $21 billion. Thousands of other product liability lawsuits are still pending in the United States.
