Chromium Industry Withheld Lung Cancer Data

According to the report, the industry misrepresented the dangers of hexavalent chromium in an attempt to avoid stricter workplace regulation.

Hexavalent chromium, a chemical used in welding, chrome plating, and the production of chromate pigments and dyes, took center stage in the 2000 film Erin Brockovich.

Since accusations were made against the chromium industry, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released new standards greatly limiting permissible workplace exposure to hexavalent chromium.
