Federal lawsuit seeks Roe v. Wade for men

Recently ordered to pay support for an 8-month-old daughter he had with a woman he dated in 2004, Matt Dubay has sought the help of a national men's rights group in renouncing his parental responsibilities. Dubay, 25, says the child's mother originally told him she was incapable of getting pregnant due to a physical condition, and because she was using contraception.

The Saginaw, Mich., man says he and the woman were together for three months. After they broke up, she informed him that she was pregnant. The couple discussed adoption, but the woman eventually decided to keep the child, against Dubay's wishes.

The lawsuit argues that while women have the right to decide the fate of a fetus, men have no comparable control in the event of an unplanned pregnancy. Named as defendants in the planned suit are the child's 20-year-old mother and the Saginaw County prosecutor.
