Dubai Ports deal caves

Just one day after The House Appropriations Committee voted against the deal by a 62-2 margin, Dubai Ports World announced its plans to relinquish the operation of P&O Operations North America to a company based in the United States.

President Bush, who supported the transfer, stated that he was fully prepared to veto the decision.

Rep. Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, stated that the new deal, in order to be acceptable, would have to be with a company not affiliated with DP World.
