At the time of Watson's arrest in his home state of Florida, Marshall University football coach Mark Snyder said Watson's chances of attending the school had been put in jeopardy. Watson was a passenger in a car that was pulled over by police when the drugs were found.

The Florida State Attorney's office said the fact that he was simply a passenger in the car was one of the reasons the charges were dropped, among others. According to a spokesperson, the other reasons include the facts that only trace amounts of the drugs were found and Watson has no criminal history.

Watson is a promising running back/linebacker from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach Fla.

He caught the attention of Marshall fans and the media because of his unconventionally small size for the game of football; 5-foot-6 inches, 197 pounds.
