Laurel Roszell, the mother of the now-16-year-old girl, has received financial support from the All-Star athlete since 1997. In addition to monthly child support in the amount of $5000, Johnson agreed to pay $750 a month to cover a portion of Roszell's day care expenses. However, the 42-year-old baseball player filed a court petition in February, seeking a rebate for the child care funding.

Johnson contends that Roszell failed to provide quarterly accountings for her day care expenses and that for several years she has not spent money on day care at all.

Roszell denies the claims, saying she has provided all required documentation. She adds that, when she stopped working full-time and was able to spend more time personally caring for her daughter, she was given approval by Johnson's agent to continue receiving the $750 monthly day care stipend.

A May 17 hearing has been set.
