William Gourdine, 42, was brought in front of Judge Leon Emanuel for the second time. This time, the family of DUI victim, Amanda Laurenson, brought forth new evidence in an attempt to extend Gourdine's prison sentence.

According to the evidence, Gourdine had another DWI offense on his record in North Carolina. Even in light of this evidence, Judge Emanuel refused to extend Gourdine's sentence;however, he did fine him $2500.

Emanuel also refused to let Gourdine leave the state of Lousiana while he is out on bond. According to Gourdine's attorney, getting out of the state was the only way his client would find employment.

Gourdine was driving intoxicated on April 3, 2004 when he hit and killed high school student, Amanda Laurenson. Gourdine could have received a one to 20 year prison sentence, but with seven years of his eight year sentence suspended, Gourdine only served the minimum sentence.
