Louisiana doctor pleads guilty to distributing drugs over the Internet

Dr. Edward T. Schwab was charged with conspiracy to launder money and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. According to court records filed by the prosecution, Schwab worked with others to distribute various prescription drugs through the Internet. Many of these drugs were prescription painkillers and diet drugs. Schwab admitted that more than one million doses of these drugs were distributed between October 2002 and August 2003.

Schwab currently faces 15 years in prison. A sentencing date has yet to be determined.

Six other doctors have pleaded guilty to similar charges and currently await sentencing.
