Oklahoma man sentenced for second attempt at methamphetamine manufacturing

Robert Ernest Sawyer, 52, was given a five-year prison term and an additional two years' probation. He was also ordered to pay $1,600 in fines.
In his first conviction, Sawyer pled guilty to attempting to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, maintaining a dwelling house for keeping and selling controlled substances as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
During the drug bust that resulted in his latest conviction, Sawyer reportedly told authorities that he hadn't cooked methamphetamine in about a year and that he had previously cooked the substance behind his residence. According to an affidavit by investigators, he also stated he had used methamphetamine as recently as the day before the raid.
Sawyer's wife, Beverly, was also charged and later pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. She was given 7-years' probation and was also ordered to pay a $1,600 fine.
