Humana postponing settlement payments until appeals are resolved

According to the health insurer, Humana, Inc., an appeal of the settlement agreement from October 2005 is being made by objectors in Florida district court. Humana is awaiting the result of this appeal before paying the settlement amount.

The settlement agreement, reached in October 2005, was the result of a lawsuit launched by over 700,000 physicians. In the lawsuit, physicians accused some of the nation's largest HMO plans of reducing payments to physicians and delaying reimbursements.
