Paul Richmond, 21, of Ohio, was sentenced in Butler County Court after his involvement in an accident that killed Catherine Morris, 76, on November 15, 2005. Although Richmond was not drunk at the time of the accident, he had a history of reckless driving. He received his first DUI at age 18 and a second DUI a few months after the crash that killed Morris.

Richmond stated that the fatal collision occurred when he swerved to avoid hitting an animal on the road. However, his continual reckless behavior, including a DUI offense after the accident, showed that he had no remorse. The Morris family requested that Richmond receive the maximum sentence of nine years behind bars.

Richmond was sentenced to nine years for both the accident that killed Catherine Morris and his second DUI offense.
