The campaign will be sponsored by the County Air Pollution Control District, Environment Health Department and County Counsel.
The recent rise in asbestos violations in San Diego County has primarily involved condominium conversions and buildings constructed prior to 1980.
The first part of the campaign will focus on public awareness, followed by a campaign to educate workers and contractors.
Exposure to asbestos can cause mesothelioma, a fatal form of lung cancer.
