The lawsuit, filed by 700,000 physicians in 1999, accused UnitedHealth and Coventry Health Care of adjusting their computer systems to deny physicians full reimbursement for their claims.

United States District Judge Federico Moreno decided that there wasn't enough evidence against the health maintenance organizations and dismissed the case.

The physicians involved in the lawsuit still have a chance to appeal.

Humana Inc. and nine other insurance companies that were involved in the lawsuit settled out of court for $646 million.
