Man Sentenced for DUI after Injury Accident

Scott McEntire was charged with driving under the influence and attempting to flee from police after causing an accident that left him and three passengers injured in September.

According to the police report, McEntire drove into a tree and rolled his vehicle. The passenger that was in the front seat at the time of the crash, Cassandra Kopnitsky, had the most severe injuries. She suffered a punctured lung and several broken bones including her pelvis, back, arm, neck, and clavicle.

McEntire, 22, will serve between 21 and 42 months behind bars for the accident. He has also been sentenced to two years probation, which will run concurrently with his prison sentence.

In addition to jail time, McEntire has been ordered to take part in a drug and alcohol treatment program and perform 50 hours of community service. He must also pay fines including a $3,000 fine for driving while intoxicated, and restitution of $15,290.

According to lab results, McEntire's blood alcohol level was at .18 percent at the time of the accident.
