In June 2005, Flynn was hospitalized for four days after using Tile Perfect Stand 'n Seal Grout Sealer. The lawsuit alleges that the fumes from the defective grout sealer damaged Flynn's lungs, leaving him with only half of his normal breathing capacity.

The lawsuit was filed against Home Depot (as the product's exclusive distributor) and Roanoke Companies Group (the product's manufacturer). It states his reduced breathing capacity forced Flynn to quit his job and to stop coaching his son's baseball team. It further alleges that his active love life was destroyed.

The couple is seeking $111 million in the lawsuit: $100 million in punitive damages, $10 million for injuries sustained, and $1 million for the couple's ruined love life.

Lara Flynn said she and her husband were newlyweds when the injuries occurred. She claims the injuries ruined the couple's highly active sex life.

About 300,000 cans of Stand 'n Seal were recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in August 2005 due to adverse effects from the product's use.
