In September 2002, Reynolds slipped on a puddle of water in ShopRite and hit her head on the tile floor. She suffered a severe spine injury that today gives her chronic pain and limits the movement in her head and neck.

A manager of ShopRite said Reynolds slipped on water from her own umbrella and was wearing 5-inch heals. The jury didn’t accept that argument and decided to award Reynolds the large verdict to compensate for her suffering and loss of life’s enjoyment.

Robert Gold, ShopRite’s attorney, says he plans on appealing the verdict.

Reynolds was in the news prior to this incident, as she was the last of 12 women married and swindled out of money by con artist William Michael Barber.
