Christy Allis, of Lee County, filed the lawsuit against Naples plastic surgeon Luciano Boemi. According to the suit, in 2003 Allis, then 28, underwent a breast lift and augmentation by Boemi at Bonita Bay Surgical Center in Bonita Springs.

Allis’ attorney, Jeff Garvin, said that during the procedure, Allis lost blood circulation to her breasts, causing them to blacken and form hard, dead tissue.

Gavin said Allis had to undergo thirteen surgeries to repair the damage to her breasts. The size of the jury’s award was warranted given the degree of suffering she experienced, Garvin said.

Boemi and Bonita Bay Surgical Center did not promptly return after-business-hours phone calls seeking comment.
