Troubled Wide Receiver Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail for Second DUI

The wide receiver returned to the same court where he was initially convicted of drunken driving and reckless driving. Then a Seattle Seahawks player, Robinson served one day in jail and was sentenced to five years, but that was suspended on the condition that he refrain from drinking or violating any laws. In August, however, Robinson was again picked up for drunken driving.

Robinson will be able to spend half of his 90-day sentence on work-release. He has to begin the sentence by February 28 — an arrangement that will allow him to play through the season.

Robinson’s probation violations were numerous. He violated new laws, failed to pay fines, operated a vehicle without an ignition-lock device, and continued to use alcohol. He was picked up in Minnesota on Aug. 15 following a high-speed chase. Six criminal counts stemmed from the arrest — including a felony for evading police, and two misdemeanors for operating a vehicle while impaired. The hearing is set for Oct. 17.

Robinson played for the Minnesota Vikings at the time of his August arrest, but the team released him two weeks after the incident — a repeat of what happened after his first alcohol-related arrest, when he was let go by the Seattle Seahawks. He was subsequently picked up by the Packers.
