In his lawsuit, Keith Judd says he is suffering from poisoning caused by oil that spilled from the transformer. He claims the waste management company Fluor Hanford was negligent for not removing the oil before it sent the machine to the scrap yard. Toxic chemicals, including furan, dioxins, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), were allegedly contained in the oil.

According to Judd’s lawyer, Jack Sheridan, Judd cannot work because of his illness. He said that since the accident Judd has experienced fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and skin rashes.

In addition to Fluor, the suit names Twin Cities Metal for failing to protect Judd from the accident.

In a statement, Flour said it sympathizes with Judd for any medical problems he is having. It is too early, however, to conclude that contaminants from the transformer caused those problems, the statement said.
