The suits, filed jointly, name eleven companies as defendants.

Plaintiff Frank Graich is the executor of the estate of Rudy Graich. Rudy worked for Weirton Steel between 1964 and 2002 and was later diagnosed with lung cancer and asbestosis. The suit says the defendants were responsible for exposing him to the asbestos.

Another suit was filed by Junior and Dorothy Payne. Junior believes he was exposed to asbestos while working as a mechanic at Dupont from 1941 to 1982.

In their suit, Clarence and Joyce Strickland claim that Clarence, who suffers from mesothelioma and asbestosis, was exposed to asbestos while working as a laborer at Elk Refining/Pennzoil and Union Carbide.

Another group of plaintiffs, Charles and Patsy Zeigler, say Charles was exposed to asbestos while working at Weirton Steel from 1959 to 1989. He has been diagnosed with asbestosis and lung cancer.

The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. The men’s spouses are seeking compensation for loss of consortium.
