Undisclosed Settlement Reached in Wrongful Death Suit over Waco Pastor's Electrocution

Approximately 800 worshippers were present at the baptism of an unidentified woman. As Lake reached the microphone, an electric shock was produced. He collapsed and was transported to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead after efforts to resuscitate him failed.
Lake’s widow Jennifer and his parents filed a wrongful death suit against MP Electric of Waco, the electrical contractor that designed, assembled, and installed the church baptistry heaters.
A settlement was announced on Dec. 1, 2006, the details of which were not disclosed by the parties involved.
