Injuries, Fatalities during Bike Week in Central Florida

According to witnesses, Brandon Long, a 19-year-old Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University student, was traveling at a high rate of speed on the evening of March 10 when his motorcycle struck a car. Long was transported to Halifax Medical Center by ambulance and was reported to have life-threatening injuries.

Another rider was injured when a car failed to stop and clipped the rider’s leg.

There were a total of seven Bike Week-related fatalities this year.

On their way home from the event, a St. Petersburg couple crashed in Seminole County and died.

Five other people died in Volusia County.

Bike Week, headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, was held March 2 – 11.

At last year’s event, 16 riders died over the course of the week in motorcycle-related accidents.
