Class-Action Lawsuit Filed against Whirlpool

By Richard Seward

Published on March 14, 2007

Plaintiffs Paula Rush et al. claim that ice machines in the refrigerators did not work properly and temperature controls did not remain constant, often causing flooding that led to water and property damage.

At this time, Whirlpool Corporation has not honored consumer requests to repair or replace the defective units. In addition, there have been no plans to offer reimbursement to consumers for damages caused by refrigerators that are beyond their warranty period.

The suit has been filed on behalf of all consumers in the United States who bought one of the Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators in 2000 or later. The suit includes Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, and Roper brand names.

The class action lawsuit seeks $5 million in compensation.

Are there any class actions against Kitchenaid for their dishwashers? Many people have complaints. I paid over $1,000 for a dishwasher that after 3years doesn't wash dishes.

i have one of the fridges. purchased from a local store and had the control unit replaced 4 times. repaiar guy showed me the easy swap out so Glen gave me an xtra control unit so they would"t have to come out.
also defrost heating element in the freezer fell away from the cooling coils and had to be repaired by me with a non defective design and matierials.

I purchased a $2000 Kitchenaid refrigerator in 2009. It has several cracks on the right side of the liner.I was offered to fix them with tape or glue, unexceptable solutions to this problem. It is a comsmetic defect that I shouldn't see for another 10 years or ever if at all. Several people are having problems on consumeraffairs.com. Kitchenaid claims to be a high quality product, but when their product fails, no one wants to be responsible for it. Extremely disappointed in this company and would like something done about it
