Family of Explosion Victim Receives Settlement in Wrongful Death Suit

According to the settlement, reached on April 5, 2007, the wife and children of Victor Rodriguez will be paid $8.4 million in damages by the owner of the pipeline – Kinder Morgan Energy Partners – and subcontractor Comforce.

In November 2004, five workers died when a backhoe driver struck a natural gas pipeline, sparking an explosion.

As a result of the accident, settlements ranging from $275,000 to $25 million have been paid to more than a dozen injured workers and families of victims who perished in the blast.
