The suit against the Packers was filed in Brown County Circuit Court in Wisconsin by Andrew Douglas. The suit sought compensation for a broken leg Douglas sustained while he walked over snow banks on his way to the Lambeau Field parking lot before the playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings on Jan. 9, 2005.

According to the suit, Douglas was walking to Lambeau Field from a nearby restaurant, using the sidewalk adjacent to the parking lot. The sidewalk was blocked by a 6-foot-tall pile of snow, forcing Douglas to walk in the street and step over snow piles while walking toward a driveway leading into the lot.

Douglas twisted his ankle and fell while stepping onto a snow-covered, sloped driveway approach ramp. According to the suit, Douglas suffered a broken fibula and ankle injury in the fall. Douglas blamed the injury on the Packers failure to keep their property safe for visitors by not clearing the snow piles.

Earlier in the case, the Packers argued that Douglas assumed risks when he stepped onto the property, and that the injury was due to his own negligence.
