Kathleen Prachel is seeking $2 million in the suit, which alleges that Webster town officials knew of the flooding near Prachel’s house but failed to repair the drainage system. Prachel moved out of her house several months ago after flooding damaged her home and she suffered illnesses allegedly caused by toxic mold.

The lawsuit, filed in the Monroe County Clerk’s office, cites negligence, carelessness, and recklessness on the part of the town’s officials as the cause of the continual flooding of Prachel’s home and spread of toxic mold. The $2 million suit includes claims for loss of property, long-term medical problems, and loss of quality of life.

The town’s attorney would not yet comment on the case.

Toxic mold causes different reactions in each individual, including flu-like symptoms, lung and skin infections, respiratory problems, headaches, food allergies, digestive problems, and more.
